Rivers and Lakes of Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg, Virginia has a relaxing lifestyle that serves as a magnet for many tourists, home buyers and retiring baby boomers.  The wonderful waterfront opportunities are vast with much historical significance.

There are beautiful winding scenic rivers and large man-made lakes. The historic and scenic Rappahannock River winds around the City of Fredericksburg. Many homes there are from the Colonial period. This river runs from northwest in the Shenandoah Valley, where it is only yards wide to the south east and into the Chesapeake Bay, where it’s miles wide. The Potomac River to the North of Fredericksburg is even wider. It too boasts gorgeous wide panoramic views and sandy beaches. The location of this river makes property opportunities highly desirable. It runs through our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. and separates Virginia with Maryland. Water activities are endless. Water sports like skiing and tubing to fishing and crabbing or just boating and enjoying the serene atmosphere create many wonderful memories.

The top man-made lakes in the Fredericksburg area are Fawn Lake, Lake of the Woods, Ni River Reservoir,  Lake Anna and Lake Caroline and Lake Land’ Or to the south.  Fawn Lake is famous for its quiet, private, deep water lake. The Arnold Palmer Golf course adds to the scenic beauty. Lake of the Woods is well known for its water sports opportunities. The Ni River Reservoir was created by Spotsylvania County. The medium sized lake is conveniently located near Fredericksburg. The boat traffic here is kept to a minimum.  Lake Anna is a very large man-made lake located to the west of the city. This lake runs for miles with very deep water. Waterfront opportunities are numerous here. Lake Anna is well known for Water sports, boating and fishing. Lake Caroline and Lake Land’ Or in Caroline County, VA. are waterfront communities that are well known for water sports. Lake Caroline is actually set up to host competition water skiing events, while Lake Land’ Or is better designed for fishing or boating.
